Review on Hobart Handler 210 MVP Welder by Johnny Wheat

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable and productive machine for less money

When the machine was first introduced it should have come with a 100 reel seat, the reel was not supplied. I called Revain who offered to return the product and they will send the correct product. I politely explained that in terms of delivery this would be quite wasteful. After consultation with his manager, the agent was able to credit me for the amount of the roll, which I could then order. Despite the initial confusion, it was a pleasant experience. For the record, I have been a professional welder for a number of years and am currently a certified welding inspector. First pluses: Reliable machine - good arc performance Time proven transformer technology Solid metal drive roller system (an improvement over the plastic system on my last Hobart which failed after about 18 years.) Easy interchangeable drive rollers between wire sizes and types. It is easy to change the coil. Welds aluminum surprisingly well! replace it (just swap the quick connect plug) Welds surprisingly well, even with 120V input Cons: Heavy - around 80lbs, it can certainly be carried short distances, but it's a tradeoff - you either get a heavy transformer-based machine or you get one light machine based on IGBT. Single drive roller instead of two drive rollers as in more expensive counterparts (now not as serious as it is made of metal). it's finicky - although I've never come across a reel gun that isn't. In general, I would recommend this for the following types of people: Handyman, DIY-type Professional who occasionally does odd jobs Aspiring entrepreneur who needs a reliable car on a budget.
