Great Covid-19 project

This kept me busy for a few weeks and worked from time to time. The only problem was that a pair of dowels on the winder broke under tension. I replaced it with a 5/32 brass rod from Ace Hardware. Follow the instructions carefully. You can't build this through "pants room".

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Negative experience

fun to build and good for puzzles

is made for display and entertainment during downtime! Pretty easy to assemble compared to some other models I've built. To date I have made about 15 different models. Problem assembling the drive belts. Assembly instructions in this area are vague. A few trials and errors. I painted the moving cars in different colors with accents. "SHARP" RON

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • High price

Very fragile, difficult to assemble, no feedback from the manufacturer.

I had all the 1 star issues above. The gears are fragile and poorly designed, assembly is very difficult (without the help of the instructions). I broke the movement trying to put it back together and emailed Wood Trick twice to get the part - never heard from them. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I do not recommend buying.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Confusing instructions - broke within first 1/2 hour of assembly

Removing parts from any panel is difficult and often results in wood chips tearing from the panel and/or removing a part. I completed the first few steps with no problems. Then I had to "clamp" the rod with gears between two already assembled pieces of wood. In short, one of the gears broke and the whole thing became unusable. Now it's in the trash - a waste of my money.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Flamboyant

Nice and fun but too expensive.

Great product. Read all reviews before ordering. That is very nice. I think it's great. However, a week after I arrived, I started receiving ads for the same product from other brands with better features for HALF the price. I don't make a lot of money, so that annoyed me a little. I will be adding future pieces from these brands to our collection for less than half what I paid for this one. The same dimensions. Same complexity but added features like solar power and music playback.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Use lots of wax and sanding and be patient.

I like how it turned out but it was really difficult to get the gears to stay in place as more was added. I had to glue the tabs holding the gears in place or they popped out. I had to glue the arches to the base because they kept popping up. I've made sure every transfer runs smoothly. Sometimes something came up. I ended up getting it working and painting the details as I went along. The ferris wheel part was easy. I got the last cog up wrong but I redid it and now it works.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Poor instructions

It was fun and it turned out really nice, but.

It turned out great and all the gears really work and the ferris wheel spins. The downside for me was that the tremendous stresses on the rubber bands and nylon threads required to function on their own caused my rubber bands to snap. I just didn't care because I believed that even repairs with new bands would not reduce the stress factor that seems built into this model to spin the wheel. But don't let that stop you, give it a try, maybe you'll have better luck than me and maybe you'll doโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Don't remember

Looks good but doesn't work and is broken

This is very difficult to assemble as using toothpicks for stability makes assembly difficult. The instructions say to use three rubber bands to get the ferris wheel spinning. 3 wasn't enough. I had to use all 5 (difficult to add AFTER the unit was assembled). Winding the wheel is easy, but it still doesn't work properly. While winding the wheel to make it work, one of the pins holding the rubber band guides broke. The block doesn't work. I wrote to the manufacturer and asked for a replacementโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • disappears

Amazing that all twelve gears do their job!

Overall height when assembled 13.5 inches. The wheel rotates about 25% of its total circumference. With more use it makes a complete revolution - slowly. low current Uses three 2 inch diameter rubber bands that stretch up to 9 inches for their strength. Loses "amp" when stretching rubber bands 6 inches. I'm afraid to wrap it too tight lest the rubber bands or a thin string (pull the wheel) break. Once the base is closed it becomes difficult to replace the broken rubber bands. In the past youโ€ฆ
