You need to leave some space for this to work.
Once installed, it performs its functions. My only issue is that the door fits this closet perfectly, and for this latch to work I had to adjust it so the door no longer fully closes. An additional gap of at least 1/8 inch is required to allow you to slide the door far enough to disengage the latch. So, it's installed, it works, but the door fit now looks like the builder was careless with the fit. .
