Waterproof Perfection

I hiked the Colorado Trail and used this tarp as a tent and groundsheet (check out the youtube video for different settings). It worked perfectly, was relatively cheap compared to a tent and was completely waterproof even in heavy rain. I think many envied the simplicity of my setup. I simply used my trekking poles, pegs and some included cords to set it up in about 5 minutes each night. I also used plastic tarps under the bag and mat for the first half of the route, but later decided that a tarp folded under me was enough to keep me dry. My only complaint is the tent pegs. The pegs that come with the tarp appear to be of good quality but they are not designed to go through the grommets of the tarp itself. Before I left, I replaced mine with aluminum hooks for less than $10 and then rode the CT 500 miles; the task is solved. I almost downgraded my rating to four stars because of this, but the tarp itself is so good it was a little rude to take points off for such a small part. I think you will be very satisfied with this high quality tarpaulin.
