This bed will not lay flat, no matter what we do. We put the dog mattress on top of it, we sat on it, place weights on it but it just would not lay flat. The center bracket is just higher than the outer legs causing it to consistently rise in the middle. After 3 mos. of attempts to straighten it out, it is still not flat and we finally gave up and bought another brand as the dog is uncomfortable with it (I don't blame the dog!). Good quality on the fabric though but the construction needs a lot of re-thought. Watch out for your fingers, those pesky side brackets might get it caught and you might end up with a hand injury. If I could return I would but the carton got thrown away accidentally.
