These lights are bright enough and light enough for me to create in my basement for the first time! I bought three of these to replace the CFLs in the old china fixtures in our basement. We've lived in the same house for over 10 years and our basement has always been dark, even with 100W CFLs in every outlet. At 4000K the light is fairly white and much closer to natural daylight. I still use an OTT table lamp for small details and beadwork, but the overhead light is more than enough for general creativity. don't hang too far (useful in rooms with low ceilings). The frosted glass distributes the light well and creates a better light distribution than before. They are also very easy to install. I just removed the old bulbs and this one fits into the existing porcelain socket. They also include hardware for fitting directly into an empty electrical box, but I've gone with a simple solution.
