too short, scratchy fabric

Such examples should be better. The laces are tied too low on the pants to allow for enough length in the inseam - the pants almost hit the ankles when the straps tie at the hips. I have almost a 34 inch inseam. This also requires a lot of fabric folding, although this is secondary and depends on style preference. Also, the fabric is scratchy and rough and hardly feels like cotton as advertised. something with a better side and more comfort.
