With a great deal of experience with products like this after reading the reviews I went ahead and bought them as I realized that many of the issues were do to people who had no experience with 'eyebrow wigs' and maybe had used tattoos before or had them professionally applied so did not all the handling steps that are required. They are right, its all very easy but you have to know what to do. Anyone with lace front wig experience would perhaps have figured this out but I am not sure. First let me say that I was very pleased with my look at the product when it arrived. It was well made and shaped decently and was ready for what I needed to do to apply it and make it mine. The first time you apply them you will have to spend some time with them and getting used to hem and positioning and grooming correctly so do not plan to put these on while doing makeup to go out. Take a bit of free time when your not expected anywhere and do a trail run with them so when you do put them on for you first public appearance in them you are comfortable. I can prep a new eyebrow wig for myself in less then an hour but I know exactly what I want and what I have to do and have done it many times. The first time I put my own on by myself it took two hours but I had also watch a professionally close for some time doing them. the first pair I ever did on another person took me a bit more than 2, some of it just delays in deciding what position and angle was best and what other changes were needed and that is something everyone will go through to some extent, so give yourself time. Once you set them up once then they are ready for subsequent wearing so it will not involve that much time. Usually the best first step is to use a few small pieces of double sided lace front wig tape to get an idea of what placement you are going to want and how much you will need to groom your own eyebrows (if you have them) to work with the wig). This will also give you any idea if the hair is longer than would be natural for you, or than you would like or a great deal more dense than you would wear. Be very gentle when lifting them off their backing and pull the wig up and not to where you are rolling it back on itself to get it off. First remember that using brow pomade or wax you will have the option to have the hairs lay flatter and smoother and not appear as long, just like one would do with normal eyebrows. Next you want to judge the length and if the wig is way to long for your face/brow you will want to trim the lace from the outer edge of the eyebrow but make sure that its mostly lace you are removing so that some hair extends beyond so it does not look unnaturally cut off after trimming. Even before putting them on for the first wearing you can use a eyebrow brush and gently style the hair, with pomade or wax if you wish, and then judge again if they look to fluffy or the hair too long. You can then carefully trim what appears too long remembering that hair at the end of the eyebrow may naturally be longer than that near the bridge of the nose and only trim about half the length you think is too much. Healthy eyebrow hair is not short and stubby but is longer and the length is not that notable when laying flat. You can always trim more but you can't get it to grow again so be conservative in your trimming. I also work a bit on the area that will be near the bridge of my nose as I like the hairs to stand upwards towards my forehead and that may require a bit more trimming to get that look, if you do not like that style and prefer it lay smooth and follow the browline trying as much as possible to do it without trimming too much or at all. The longer the hair the more it cooperates with being groomed. The time you may need to trim shorter than I am suggesting here is if you need a less dense or full looking eyebrow. You do not really want to pluck eyebrow wigs if you can avoid it and if you do this would be after they are being worn, and you never pluck except at the edges. You can thin the density by selectively cutting some of the hair shorter but alternate this so its not obvious you have just trimmed a band through the wig. It should still feel a bit longer and thicker and denser than you think you will like at this point, before you put them on. Now apply the wigs as you want to with the method you prefer, either glue or tape. As much as possible the adhesive you should use should be applied around the edges and not in the center, especially if applying over areas where you still have eyebrow hair naturally or the eyebrows are liable to grow back in (post chemo or if you shaved them etc). Let the glue get tacky and then place it, sliding it a bit until you get the angle and position that you want that gives you the arch you want, distance at the brow and the distance to brownbone and eyelid you prefer. Most good eyebrow tutorials can show you how to mark the landmarks for the end of the brow at an angle from the corner of the outer and the inner placement marking along the side of the nose and the center point and you may be familiar with these from drawing on eyebrows, but if not watch or read a good tutorial. I prefer glue as it makes it easier for me to adjust the position the first time as using tape is harder to move it a half a mm at a time or less to get the position your wish. After I have a good position and know where to apply them I will use tape when in a hurry or have no plans to wear them more than a few hours or but glue just does give better adjustment and placement and they stay on longer. At this point with the wigs on and in the position you want you will need to pluck or shave any natural hair that you do not plan to style into the wig hair. if you are still growing eyebrows you will end yo having eyebrow hair that grows in under the wigs and will take on the shape and arch you position the wigs in but for the most part very little to none of you natural eyebrow hair should show. Yes, some may poke through the lace in the area without adhesive and that is fine, and natural, they can just be groomed into the wig hair. Either way, now give the eyebrow wigs a chance to settle in and the adhesion to get cured up so the wig is moving with your expressions and not moving if touched with your fingers or brushes by clothing and so on. once you are sure they are secure then you can groom and style then as you want, again using pomade or wax to make them lay flatter or smoother if that is the look you prefer. Remember if you have been losing eyebrows or coping with very thinning ones for a while, or actually lost your eyebrows, having more natural and normal appear ones ones are going to look darker, thicker, denser and so on then you ever remembered and will actually appear pretty negative to you at first, until you are used to looking at yourself again with more normal appearing eyebrows. This is a good time to take a break before doing more, and sit down and relax and periodically check your eyebrows. Using a mirror and talking to yourself and making different facial expressions to get used to what it looks like, as well as feels like to have more, or any eyebrows, can help you adjust a bit quicker too. Many people are really worried that the eyebrows will jump out at people and they will notice, but surprisingly you will find that instead of people coming up and saying something about your eyebrows, although you're very aware of them, usually you will get comments about looking good, or more rested or asked if you did something different with you makeup and not really catch on its eyebrows, and when they do they usually ask what you did to get them looking so good. I also noticed that after I started wearing eyebrow wigs, especially at work, I often did not have to repeat or explain things as often as it seemed people were catching my meaning and emotion about something a great deal better. We do communicate with eyebrows a great deal and when you have none or very thin or sparse ones they lose the impact you would normally have. Once you give yourself some time to get used to your new look, then if you still think they are too thick you can thin the hair a bit more going slowly and grooming then periodically so you don't go too thin. If they really are fatter than you can stand you can pluck them a bit but only from the edge and, like natural eyebrows, mostly from the bottom of the eyebrow, be slow and careful and if you pull on one and it does not come out easily skip it as it probably at the point of a tie and you do not want to rip the lace. Remind yourself all the time though that the reason you are putting these on is your trying to solve an issue with eyebrows that are thin, or sparse, or patchy and you do not want to make them into the same eyebrows that your were having problems with. Once you are where you are happy with them, even if they still look to you a bit thicker or denser or with longer hair then you are used to, you can then do what you want to further with an eyebrow pencil to adjust the color or define th edges, but if you find you 'filling them in' you know you went a bit overboard with thinning or plucking and not make that mistake the next time. You should not have to be filling these in at all. Wigs will actually conform to the shape that you have positioned then in after a few uses and some like that convenience since they always want that shape and position, others do not. When you remove the eyebrows with alcohol or adhesive remover make sure to remove any adhesive still adhering to the edges of the wgs and then take a damp washcloth or a makeup remover towelette and clean of any residue from either the alcohol or the adhesive remover and put then back flat in their packaging but do not seal the packaging until they are completely dry. After 5 or more wearings or if in contact with a great deal of makeup you may with to wash them. i use a baby shampoo and luke warm water and let them soak no more than about 5 minutes. Do not scrub, If there is a stubborn bit of makeup on them you can carefully run the soapy water through the wig by running your fingers in the direction of the hair very gently. Then just hold them under cool to lukewarm running water. Pat the extra water off them by laying them flat on a towel and patting them dry with the edges of the towel or another towel. Place then wear they can dry flat. If they are very out of shape from their original using a flat iron on a cooler setting will fix that, As you can see, no eyebrow wig product is going to come out of the packaging looking great on you, just like the first time you put on a lace front wig you have to spend time cutting the lace to the hairline you want, plucking the hair and creating baby hairs and grooming the hairline, creating the part you want and so on. Once set up. of course, its just a matter of putting the wing back on the next time and gluing it down, all the prep work stays done. this is the same for any new eyebrow wiig you get whether its you first time or your 100th. They are not going to, unless your very lucky and look just like the model they were created on, going to be perfect right out of the package. The pictures you see of the models wearing them have all had them prepped and glued on and groomed properly and if done right you will get the same or close to result. It's nearly impossible to judge a eyebrow wig fresh out of a package unless you take it out and it starts shedding hair or curling up on you immediately. Then you may have gotten a bad wig, I spent about an hour prepping these, of course I did not have to take time to sit about and get used to what I look like with them on as I am used to that dramatic change. The length for me was great and I did not need to shorten them and they needed no thinning. They groomed very nicely and wore exceptionally well. I have certainly had eyebrow wigs that cost a great deal more that were not as nice as these and I will be ordering more. The only downside that there is that I can see with this product is they have limited colors at this time but there is the option, as with any human hair wig of dying then to the color you wish and that usually is not necessary with eyebrow wigs given all the colors of eyebrow pomade and pencils you can get now to have a temp color change which is usually much better than setting them up with a semi permanent or permanent color change. Once i get the additional ones I am going to order I will do a color change by dying on one pair and come back and update on how well they do with that.
