Very cheap household appliances. This panini press retails for around $60, and for that price you expect a certain level of quality. First, when you take it out of the box you can sense how light and cheap it looks and feels. I tried to be optimistic afterwards but it was just constant disappointment. No on/off switch, no temperature setting. Literally just a light to tell you when to cook for your meal. When I opened the lid to put food on top, there was no cork. Lid opens 180°. I'm small so I reach across the hot surface to *hopefully* grab the lid (again, I'm small so I couldn't see the handle from there) to close it. The instructions say to dust the surface but the grill is serviceable. I still used a damp rag to clean and when the press got hot it gave off a chemical smell. And finally, its main function is a panini press, the lid is very light and the handle is barely enough, making the lid difficult to press, especially when the weight is not enough to press it yourself. Just buy another device from another company for the same price. It's like a cheap money grab with little or no effort, little or no design or thought. Nothing is redeemable in this device. It warmed up well and cooked my sandwich well enough. I'm assuming that's what it's for.
