This is a good kit to break through the DB9 RS232 communication line. but it has one drawback that I overlooked when I bought it: it doesn't provide access to a common ground line. I wanted a breakout so I can monitor the lines with a logic analyzer/oscilloscope and you need to connect the probes to ground for this to work reliably. I'm modifying the device to do what I need, but that's the problem I haven't had. I don't understand what to do (besides, it ruins the elegant packaging of the device). OK. If you just need to check the signals on the LEDs or change the signal routing, this device will get the job done very well.
