Review on BIC America FH6 LCR 6 5 Inch Frequency by Mark Quarterman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing speaker, phenomenal value

BIC America makes many high-quality speakers at affordable prices, but this might be the best value. Although this speaker system isn't part of Acoustech's higher-level series (e.g. the slightly larger BIC Acoustech PL-28 center speaker is black), this speaker shares many common components that you'll see there (more than others speakers from BIC America). These welcome updates include a horn tweeter similar to that found in Klipsch speakers (presumably BIC was forced to abandon its orange drivers in favor of new platinum drivers in Acoustech speakers as they too closely resembled the Klipsch reference series), attractive cabinetry, a large range (40Hz-23kHz) and high sensitivity (95dB). One of the advantages of this speaker over similar Acoustechs is the ability to mount the speaker vertically on the wall (making it easier to work as a left or right speaker). The included wall mounts work very well, which is what they need as this is a beefy speaker (16lbs). Look for a similarly priced speaker that offers most of these features and you'll be out of luck. Try to find them all and you'll either see a used Klipsch (if you're lucky) or this one. Others may sound similar, but they lack sensitivity (requires more power for a given sound level) or range (you don't have to rely on a subwoofer as much as you do other speakers). Combine three of these (left, center and right - what the LCR stands for in the name) with a 450W BIC America F12 12" subwoofer with a front speaker and good speakers (BIC offers good Acoustech PL-66 speakers) . or these cute Klipsch S-3 Synergy Surround Speakers (pair, black) (my setup) and you're done!
