Review on 🎧 Sony MDRNC33 Noise Canceling Earbuds (Black) (Not Produced Anymore) by Cody Simmons

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great sound, poor noise cancellation

I bought these to replace my MDRNC22 so my review is something of a comparison of these headphones to these but I will also try to be objective. Being a Sony, these headphones are well built and don't seem to break easily. I could even lay with them in my ears without feeling uncomfortable or feeling like they would break or get stuck in my ear canal. The sound quality is also impressive - to be honest, I like the sound better than the sound I got from Bose noise-cancelling in-ear headphones. They sound smoother than the Bose headphones and my previous Sony headphones but retain the bass power. That being said, the complaints about poor noise-cancellation are entirely true. On an airplane they sound amazing and block engine noise fairly well, but in any other environment they have little to no noise cancellation. When I wear them outside and the Indiana cicadas are chirping, they are no quieter with the noise canceling on. Human speech also sounds the same loud with or without compensation. With the latest Sony headphones, I neutralized a MUCH higher range of sound, but there was a slight hiss at times. So, if someone has "doubts" about buying these headphones or another model, be aware that while the other model has a much better rejection, you can lose some sound quality, and other headphones sometimes become very annoying when turned up loud. Also, turning on the noise-cancellation on these headphones almost makes the music quieter, while on other MDRNC22s the sound seems to be slightly amplified. Overall, in my personal opinion, these earbuds are a bit superior to the others due to the improved sound quality. Although the noise cancellation could definitely be better. Still worth the money, especially here at Revain where they are cheaper than most other retailers!
