I bought this stand to use while in the bath. The tub is taller than the space around it so I needed something to raise it. I have enough room for 5 1/2 inches deep. Unfortunately it's 5 7/8 which means it doesn't fit. The stand itself is very nice looking, educational and easily holds my Surface Pro 2017. I decided to keep it and use it on my desk although I didn't buy it for that purpose. I like it when my Surface Pro is closer to eye level as if my large monitor is next to it. Probably the ONLY thing that would make this (and other stands) better would be if they could tip forward without dropping the device. I have seen Kensington SD7000 and the device is inserted from the top. But this is an expensive docking station, not a stand. Either way, if you're looking for a stand for your device, this is a solid choice and probably the prettiest of them all. I ordered a second one to fit my bathtub but it's pretty ugly in comparison.
