I bought this to replace another brand's HDMI to composite converter that lasted about a year and a half before it failed and started introducing noise into my audio system. It seemed to work great at first, but only lasted three months before the same thing happened. The noise isn't as loud as another brand, but that's unacceptable. I wouldn't call it a hum, more like a crackle. I got rid of the last of my old CRT TVs so I don't have to deal with this problem. I'm going to use an audio extractor to get HDMI audio onto my old receiver.
