Based on my use of my Canon glass adapter on the Sunny Body I can honestly say I have peace of mind going back to Canon now. The lenses paired with my r6 body give me the same functionality as the DSLR except for the fact that the mirrorless AF is better than the DSLR in its current state as it focuses more efficiently and accurately at its widest aperture than a DSLR Camera It's almost impossible for DSLR AF to focus on anything brighter than f/2.8. The only downside is that you won't be able to use the full potential of the r5/6 12 fps recording, which may be due to the lack of firmware support. Do I think they can achieve this in the future? undoubtedly! I think Canon will allow it? Absolutely not. They definitely intentionally corrupted the customized EF system to motivate you to use HF lenses. I'm using first generation ef L series glass and it doesn't matter. 8fps is ideal for most situations, but doesn't exploit the full potential of the camera. My ef gen1 lenses are getting old. Of course they are a bit more contrasting and less harsh in their state and I'm not sure I should keep them at this point as I bought my RF 28-70 f/2. I just buy the RF versions of the lenses I have and use the EF as a backup. But I find that AF is almost as fast as RF but not as efficient or accurate. RF is definitely sharper. Worth buying if you need a new case for your workflow needs. But you will get the full benefit of RF glass.
