I bought these to set up a 3 point streaming lighting system in my office. You come with (almost) everything you need to get started, but there are some caveats. Let's start with what I like: Pros: - They're compact and light, easy to place where you need them - They're easy to adjust in height and angle - The gels are easy to install and it's nice to that they come with color gels everything - the brightness control is pretty wide so you can dial in as much light as you want - they are LED so use less power than traditional incandescent bulbs (although these are NOT LED these days) Now for the cons :- The poles go up about 4 feet so there is no point in placing them behind tables/monitors. You must place them on a raised stand or on the table itself. The stands are also fairly narrow, so they can tip over if you accidentally bump into the light. They do NOT come with power adapters and are USB powered (I assume they expect you to plug them into your PC's USB ports). or use a powered USB hub). All of my USB ports are busy, so I had to scour the house for replacement power adapters for old phones (and buy extension cords with USB ports). While gels are nice to have, they are the primary colors, but extremely colorful. Light (I use yellow and blue as edge lighting, but it can be too bright/saturated at times). This might be what you need for art shots or accent lighting, but I'd prefer some pastel colors that work for light coloring. They are not as bright as one would expect. Decent enough for video if you have a decent camera and lens, but want to shoot wide open and maybe bump the ISO up a few stops. The panels themselves are a bit small and therefore appear more like a point light source, a true diffused panel. Of course you can buy (or build) a softbox to increase the light area, but this reduces the already limited output brightness. Not a big issue for me, but maybe for those who don't have a lens that lets that much light through. It's just something to think about. Overall coverage is good and reasonable for the money you pay. However, they can be GREAT by changing the design of the stand a bit and adding accessories.
