Doesn't work well for me

I just got this monitor for traveling. I didn't even get a chance to use it because the monitor isn't fully connected to my laptop. It just flashes on and off. However, the picture quality was great, but he doesn't want to stay connected. As this was ordered from work I'm not sure how to get a replacement?
