I have a Syrian hamster and I bought one of these for indoors. I quickly found that the space the enclosure occupies is quite small and for the floor time to be enough for my buddy to experience floor time differently than cage time, two would be required. . . I still love this set because it folds up so easily and is cute and compact. It's also a great beginner's pen that you can expand to your liking over time. Four months ago I bought a pen for my hamster. Then I had two about a month later as it got bigger. . . Now, like a crazy lady hamster, I have four holds that I've assembled into a HUGE play space for my Syrian. This gives my Syrian hamster plenty of room to run in a very easy to set up (and take apart and store) cage. Basically, he can take over the entire living room at this point and I'm only blocking the areas where he could invade which could cause problems (under the sofa, under the entertainment center, next to the electronics cables, etc.). . I will tell mine. The Syrian really quickly learned to get out of that pen. Since I enlarged the pen he has lost interest in getting out but he still can and will try on occasion. My hamster can finish a pen in less than 4 seconds once set up. . . You can also understand how. So PLEASE use it under supervision if you don't want to look for your rodent in the house later.
