Wen 65812 - Wooden Bowl Grinding

Grinding Machine arrived on time, packaging looked good, but running and using it for 5 minutes showed that the mandrel and the disc are not at a 90 degree angle, it shakes a lot. the rocking was so strong that the piece of wood on the sanding table received little shock from the rocking. Sandpaper is a bit rough at 60 mesh. Sandpaper was not properly centered. Bearings seem to work well, spin long after shut down, very quiet. used a shop vacuum to pick up sanding dust, took most of it. very solid construction, good hold, very functional. I plan to use it for my segmented bowls, it rips quite a bit of wood. Sent the mill back and asked for a replacement, we will investigate. Update: I received a replacement grinder, the packaging looked sticky, turned the grinder on and it runs much smoother. The grinding wheel is effectively centered and neatly bonded. The mandrel and disc appear to be at a 90 degree angle, so the wobble I noticed with the first grinder has been eliminated. However, the table is slightly offset and not completely level and straight, which doesn't really matter as I mostly use the left half and therefore check for 90 degrees on the left side of the table. I intend to replace my current sanding disc with a self-adhesive PSA Velcro that will allow me to attach different grits. I also intend to replace the existing aluminum table with a custom folding table to allow easier access to the entire grinding wheel for segmented shell burrs. The grinding machine is worth the money, quality and price are right. Not the best grinder but very good value for the money. Update: I removed the original sanding disc with a heat gun, removed the remaining glue residue and attached the velcro to the metal disc, now I can remove/add different grits. After grinding a few segmented rings for my bowls I will end up adding an "extension" around the round dust hood to better vacuum up the dust, the high RPMs seem to blow the dust out before the vacuum sucks it in through the small ones can gap between window and hood.
