Works on my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

This worked great on my 2005 K1500 Silverado. I could only fill the gas in short spurts but not even 1/4 gallon at a time what a pain in the ass. I think I "filled it up" before Hurricane Matthew when we were all queuing at the train stations. Replacing this part fixed the problem and I was able to do a full cast with no fuss. I can swear the truck has more pizzazz too. I didn't know exactly how, but I was able to install it in about 20 minutes. Here's what I can tell you. I thought the canister was behind the fender next to the filler neck. No, it's behind the tank, closer to the center of the truck at the rear wheel, but in front of the differential. It is in an easily accessible position front, side and rear. I didn't need any tools to remove the computer link and canister, I just squeezed the lever on the left and wiggled it until it slipped off the bracket. The tricky part was the hose that connects the vacuum line to the canister. Most people replace the entire hard plastic line with 5/8 inch rubber tubing. I didn't have such a hose and wanted to fix my truck so here's what I did. I couldn't remove the tubing from the old part so I took a very sharp razor. Blade and cut off about 1 inch of hard plastic at the hose-to-nipple connection on the old part. This allowed the hose to expand a bit, allowing me to remove the old part from the hose. After then attaching the new canister to the bracket (just putting it back in) and hooking up the connection to the computer, I secured my now split hose to the nipple with a hose clamp and then wrapped tape around the rest of the split hose just to make sure that no leaks. It worked well. If that doesn't help, I just replace the hose properly, but that's enough for now.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Almost OK
