Cannot be cleaned due to air hole.

These are impossible to clean as they each have an air hole. Children chew and drool! How should I clean and dry the inside of these cubes? I tried cleaning it with soapy water when I first got them but the water won't come out even after weeks of drying. That's why I never let a child play with it. This is the germ pool in each little cube.
