Doesn't fit, too thick for original GPS slots

I have a Garmin Drivesmart 61, our original rear adapter got lost. We read sooo many reviews and decided to shoot from the hip and order the recommended Revain. Unfortunately the adapter is too thick so it can't physically snap into the back of the GPS, secondly the ball on the suction cup is so tight it almost broke trying to insert it. Then there was a metal ring that sticks out of the adapter when you insert the mount. The suction cup is the only good thing about it.
