Recently bought a new mattress, which I really liked for the first few months. Then I started waking up in the middle of the night with pain in my shoulder and hip and couldn't go back to sleep. I figured a mattress topper might solve the problem and started reading a lot of reviews. As a result, I chose this one with a gel infusion and holes, hoping it wouldn't be hot to sleep in. Since several people mentioned the smell, I decided to let the king topper air out before putting it on the bed and left it spread out on the queen bed for a day, although there was no smell. We already had two regular mattress pads, one next to the new mattress and the old one on top. I put the mattress pad in between and left the old flimsy mattress pad on top to keep it clean. A thin mattress pad on the pad also seemed to lighten the sheets. I wasn't sure how much we would like the topper but my husband and I slept very well on it. No shoulder or hip pain, and even my husband, who warms up too quickly, said he didn't sleep hot and his back feels better than without it. So far, I am very satisfied.
