I purchased this product to use for general gunsmith cleaning but primarily to remove dents and dents from wooden rifle and shotgun stocks before polishing them. I chose this one as it suited my needs and was very reasonably priced. My first engagement, a 1908 Brazilian Mauser, convinced me I had made the right choice. Cleaning the mechanical parts of the petroleum-based "long shelf life” product Cosmolene was a simple task. The short "warm-up time" made it easy to use. The wood was damaged, but our cuts didn't crack. Deep dents remained, no miracle machine with cracks in the wood. These stayed! After repainting, they give the rifle its historical character. Small dents crept out immediately. All in all, a huge improvement over the traditional tool, the steam iron!
