I'm happy with these shoes but it took me four pairs to get them right! They are comfortable and safe. I was looking for a toe strapless version that would still let me jump over river rocks without worrying about my foot slipping or catching my toe (just as easy) and they nailed it! Now for the size drama: REI no longer sells them in stores, so I couldn't try them on in person. I'm a woman with a large foot size (11.5) so I usually order men's shoes. I ordered a men's 9 in black and they sent me a *women's 9 in a completely different style. I've ordered men's 9s in a different color (exactly the same size as my old pair of Chacos that finally fell apart after 16 years) and they were too small. Then I tried women's 12s and they were too tight. Every time I tried to buy MEN's black 10's, they turned up as WOMEN's shoes when I went to the shopping cart. I finally ordered a men's size 10 in a different color which showed up in the shopping cart as expected and it fit great (and together they are exactly the same length as my old 9) so will keep it and hopefully not have it. to overcome the nightmare of getting back what worked for another 20 years (unless they do chaco like they used to). But if you're buying men's 9 or 10 in black, please check your shopping cart before you checkout!
