Review on Mizuno Wave Inspire 16 Women's Road Running Shoe by George Utley

Revainrating 2 out of 5

4 black toenails later and a broken shoelace after 250 miles.

Update: I drove about 125 miles in Cayenne and the laces on my left boot snapped. Again! I've never had an issue with laces on a Mizuno or any other shoe (for that matter) so having two failures of the same shoe really got me thinking about the quality of the shoe in general. Again, I've decided to switch to Asics in the future but thought I'd mention this shortcoming. ****Original Review: I have been a loyal user of the Mizuno Wave Inspire since it was first recommended to me many, many years ago. . My first pair was the Mizuno Wave Inspire 8 which I bought from Revain.com in 2012. I have never had an issue with the fit, wear or the product over the years to date. I first bought the Dazzling Blue shoes and drove them about 250 miles before the laces snapped, but by that point I had already bought the shoes from the Cayenne to replace the blue shoes and was looking forward to 300 miles, which is about me usually bin trash from your shoes. Landing. While I love the colors in this line, both have serious fit issues. They fit tighter than previous versions of the sneaker, possibly due to the bow tie knit. I always buy sneakers one size larger than my usual shoe size so I still have room for my feet to expand, but they definitely feel tighter than usual. The laces are also shorter than usual because I usually lace all the holes as I have ankle issues and there is barely enough room to tie the loops on the laces. I usually have enough room to tie a double knot on old shoelaces. After the first couple of runs I found I had 4 black toenails (2 middle fingers, pinky and index finger) which could only be due to the fit of the shoe. I even bought new socks with more padding in the sock which didn't help and my toenails are still black after about 6-7 months. Wear - I wore these shoes on Trail 1 to the McAfee Knob and another climb to the Dragon Tooth. I sprained my ankles on both hikes which is partly my fault as I had to wear Dragon Tooth hiking shoes and the McAfee trail was really difficult as I think more people walked it. After running the McAfee, my boots were nicked and looked very rough. I've never seen my shoes like this and have done a lot of trail running. I ran into a lot of big rocks while running, but I expected them to hold up a bit better. Product: I have never had a shoelace tear. Since the laces are already shorter than usual, I tried to tie the broken ends together, but there was no room to tie the laces together. I either bought new laces or switched to a new pair of running shoes before I had clocked 300 miles. I decided to throw the shoes away because of the issues with them and because they looked rough. I decided to try again as I've already bought a new pair but I'm still having the same issues - the laces are short and my toenails are still black. I have decided that this is the end of my love for Mizuno and I will switch to Asics Kayano.
