Second update: The company was willing to trade in for a $4 restocking fee (I think). We wanted to go for it, but that style was no longer available and we didn't want to change it to a solid color. We managed to reattach the strap - crap but it worked like this for over a year. I won't say I wouldn't buy this helmet again but gosh I still feel like it shouldn't have broken to begin with. UPDATE: After a few months of wearing, the straps on this helmet have somehow come loose from the helmet. The helmet itself is still in perfect condition, the son has not fallen into it and generally respects it (he is 4 years old but gentle for his age). This is unacceptable. The helmet is now useless and I will have to buy him another one. I will try to contact the company and update my review if I get any further. For context, the helmet he used previously was bought at a flea market (came with his Strider) and lasted over a year - and it didn't break, we just wanted something "cooler" than Sesame Street. I really can't understand why a child's helmet can break so easily. I bought it because I thought it would be too small for my son. He is 4 years old and has a relatively large head but I wanted something more interesting than most helmets on the market (but also not a bloated cartoon character) this one was perfect but according to the size chart his head was at 0.5 inches more. We received this helmet today and it fits me! I have a relatively small head for a grown man, but it still gives me hope that this helmet will fit my son for a while. Everything went so smoothly and it was pretty easy to adjust. It looks good quality and of course he loves it! Because of its size, it still has room to grow, but it can also be shrunk a bit. It has a small brim that protects from the sun and light rain. I fully expected to return this, but I'm so glad I didn't have to. There are free returns, so if you're (like me) not ready to buy your kid a boring solid color helmet, I highly recommend you give it a try. I believe you will not be disappointed
