The Panasonic S1 is a great camcorder, but their L-mount glass lenses are prohibitively expensive (be they Panasonic or even Sigma) . As the owner of Canon EF and FD glasses, I used the Sigma MC-21 adapter for EF lenses (the price is honestly too high since the autofocus is free and I mainly use it in the manual) and I have I'm considering trying these cheap Fotasy Canon FD adapters under L-mount and lo and behold they work fine, no complaints. It's all manual and mechanical iris and focus controls, but I'm very happy with the results. I've tried the Canon FD 50 1.4 and the very useful Vivitar FD 28-90 F2.8-3.5 zoom lens on the S1 with this Fotasy FD to L adapter and the results are amazing. Now I can have a wide variety of lenses for the S1 without making money off of Panasonic or Sigma lenses (I'm not even talking Leica, which are only for the 0.1% of wealthy owners/casual shooters). However, I am a pro and have created many award winning works, but Panasonic never learns from their past mistakes, they just want to keep charging exorbitant prices for their lenses and paying their mediocre bloggers for their inflated prices. Now with these adapters you don't need to empty the wall blocks anymore. Hooray!
