For the life of me I can't tell what this eye mask smells like. I have asked several different people and get answers like new shoes, herbs, lavendar, elmer's glue. It is not strong, just a very slight scent, so it doesn't bother me outside of the fact that I can't name what it is.This is good for relaxing, not so good for sleeping. The mask is made of soft velvet, one side black and the other grey. The band is thick and there is a thick section of velcro so you can adjust it for the size of your head. The beads are nicely weighted, but the mask is only divided into two, so the beads do have the tendency to run down the sides of your face and pool at the sides but there is still a good amount at the eyes to apply weight.I find if I try to sleep in this it will let light in and will not stay in place. It is better to use as an afternoon rest or relaxation time.Made in China. Dry clean or hand wash, aid dry.
