I'd rather spend a few bucks more for better quality

Purchased this item to upgrade our new home project. I've used screwless bezels at a department store in the past, but one store dropped a cheaper brand in favor of a more expensive one. So I turned to Amazon. I was excited to see this as a bundle deal and then I saw the price. a much cheaper price than $6 for a front panel for a well known brand in a department store. The package came and tried to install an outlet. The setup is still the same and I've done it literally hundreds of times. However, the first outlet I grabbed was "faulty" in the sense that the quick-plug hole was too small to accommodate standard cords. The simple fix was to try a different quick connect hole. This time the wire didn't snag and pulled out slightly under its own weight. I had to attach the wire with a screw. ie a quality control issue in making two things wrong on the same machine, I put the bezel in instead. I quickly realized that something was wrong with the design. The front panel consists of two parts. The bottom or base attaches to the outlet like any other faceplate. However, this style is not flat but convex in design. This forces me to loosen the screws on the outlet so the outlet and base are flush. The result of a loose socket is that it "moves" when something is plugged in. Anyway, I mounted the finished cover plate. When this was done, I was left with a vacant outlet with a faceplate that protruded 1/4"+ out of the wall.

Pros
  • Standard outlets
Cons
  • Some odds and ends
