I bought this for my daughter to wear to school for Valentine's Day. She wears a uniform, but they usually allow holiday-themed shirts and uniform bottoms (for the holidays), and they're loose enough that she can wear that top for a year with no problem. I knew she would love it (and she loves it) because she's girly and has hearts and ruffles and a cute little polka dot pattern on her body. Unfortunately, she cannot wear it this school year. Since this top doesn't stretch, I was afraid it would be too tight. It's actually quite loose and fits more like an 8/10 than a 7/8 except the length is perfect. So it's cut wide, but not long. The length isn't an issue for us as she wears a sweater to school (she has autism and sensory issues with pants and skirts). But all that extra material makes her sweater difficult to button up and looks lumpy underneath. The sleeves are also too loose and too long, covering her entire arm. I think the only good thing about this top being too big is that I don't have to rush to 'fix' it. I have never bought this brand but I found everything very expensive which is reflected in the price (not like the shirts you buy in a 5 pack). My kids are picky about their clothes so it was a bit too much for half the outfit; but I took the plunge because it was the last one and I knew she would love it. But when I got it to try on, the first button had already come off because of the long thread that was sticking out; all the other buttons were undone, but the threads weren't sticking out. The loops themselves also had protruding threads in which the buttons got caught when unbuttoning and buttoning. I haven't checked the seams and edges yet; I think I'll move on to something else while redoing all the buttons and buttonholes. Obviously I am very disappointed in the poor quality of this item. Maybe I just have a bad shirt π€·π»ββοΈ. I had other items from this brand in my basket for my daughter and toddler, but now I feel it's not worth buying clothes that need repairing, especially at such prices. But the biggest challenge right now is explaining to my autistic daughter why she can't wear her favorite shirt yet π€¦π»ββοΈ. For size reference, my daughter is about 57 pounds and 48 inches tall. Otherwise, she scored 7/8 or 8 (Children's Place, French Toast, Old Navy/Gap, Walmart/Target, random Asian brands on Revain). Your physique is small and rather petite, below average, straight up and down with no curves. I usually always play it safe when I see reviews that say I need to downsize, but in this case I really wish I had. This shirt definitely fits a size 10 more than a size 8. Just keep in mind that the length is 7/8 so it might be too short if your kid is tall.
