The beast. In the best case.

Replaced Brother's consumer color all-in-one laser printer that needed new drums. This is a high volume, small business printer. Comes with enough toner to print 3,000 pages so it was almost a flush compared to buying all the OEM supplies for an old printer. Works perfectly. Has a multi-page document source for single-page copies. It can scan to a USB stick or send the scan as an attachment. A small note: Wireless N does not support the 5 GHz band. It's big and heavy and requires 2 people to unpack. The previous Brother model lasted us 4 years with multiple toner refills and a set of new cartridges. Update: The factory toner in this new printer ran out after 9 months (2-3,000 pages). Please note that the Pagerank is usually 5% of the range, which is not true. (Your actual coverage will vary between 5% and 20%). With that in mind, I think the factory cartridges worked pretty well. Update 2: We have had this printer for 28 months now and use it as both a copier and scanner. (Scan to USB drive). I've replaced the cartridges with non-original ones and refilled some and the printer still works, no dropouts, print quality looks good. Maybe the aftermarket black isn't as black as the OEM, but it's good enough for me. By page count, we printed 11,000 pages, 3,000 copies. The service life of all parts is 86-96%. I highly recommend this printer. Good, but functional and reliable for us. Replacement drums are pretty cheap for this model so I'll probably replace them when they wear out unless a better looking similar model comes along by then. I expect to benefit from it for another 2-4 years.
