Review on Lenovo 23.6" Anti-Glare Gaming Monitor, Full HD 1920x1080p, 144Hz Refresh Rate, Tilting Stand, Blue Light Filter, HDMI, G24-10 by Shawn Knoepfle

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Affordable monitor with high frame rates and 1080p resolution.

I need a 1080p monitor that supports higher frame rates to replace the monitor I've been using for the past few years that's stuck at 60fps. I found this on Vine and it was exactly what I was looking for. Even if I couldn't find it on Vine, I'd happily buy it for the asking price of $150. Here you get a 1080p monitor with good contrast, HDMI and DisplayPort support. It also supports 120Hz and 144Hz refresh rates and G-Sync. For G-Sync you need to make sure that a) your graphics card supports it and 2) what type of cable you need to support it. In my case, my card only supports DisplayPort displayport. Which was a little unfortunate as this monitor only comes with one HDMI cable so I had to get the display port cable separately. How does it work? I'll get to the point: very good! I run it at 120Hz because I need to stay in multiples of 60 for some of the tasks I do on the computer. I tested it at 144 just to see how it looks and yes it worked great at that speed over HDMI or DP. If you don't care about G-Sync an HDMI cable will do, but as I mentioned above you may need a DP cable if you want to use G-Sync, but you can get it for less than $5 Dollars received from Revain and other sources. The colors are great, the contrast is high and the response time is also very good. I haven't used any fancy tools for ad hoc testing, but I can tell you that I haven't noticed any noticeable lag in actual operation when gaming or using productivity software like video editors and DAWs. You have controls on the monitor itself, as you'd expect, and you may need to adjust the refresh rate there. You can also set the screen display to always show the refresh rate if you want to make sure you're running at the expected rate. The improvement in the performance of the software and the windows themselves is very noticeable when the frequency is increased from 60Hz to 120Hz or 144Hz, the mouse pointer and windows move much more smoothly across the screen. When it comes to gaming, if you have hardware that can run high-end games at high frame rates, it's obvious if you're over 60, but I personally couldn't tell a difference between 120 and 144 in my review. I'm not saying it is NOT, just that it wasn't obvious to me and my old eyes. In the end I was very happy with this monitor. At just under 24 inches, the display size may feel a bit small for some, but it fits perfectly into my dual display system. The only downside for some will be the 1080p max resolution, so you won't be able to run anything in 1440p or 4k on this monitor. Since I have other 4K displays, I didn't care. So if you're comfortable with a 24-inch 1080p display and want frame rates in excess of 60, this should suit your needs very well at a very reasonable price.
