After reading all the reviews and hearing from Sony camera friends, I really hoped for the best with this camera. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. PROS: *IF* you're shooting still subjects in bright light, then the camera will probably do the trick. For example, at a car show I attended last month, some amazing photos were taken. I was lucky at the zoo too. But that's the only thing it's good for. CONS: Most importantly, even when shooting still subjects, focus is often very soft/grainy. Before you say it, yes, I've done all the possible settings and read the entire manual. The pictures are just blurry. It's almost impossible to quickly focus on moving subjects. (My one-year-old niece is a perfect example.) Yes, the camera is compact so you can take it anywhere and capture spontaneous moments. But the time it takes to focus makes it difficult to capture those moments. The flash severely blurs skin tones, regardless of the ambient light settings. I was able to manually set the exposure with the flash off to get decent photos. But then again, I want a point-and-shoot camera, not one that requires constant adjustments. Forget low light/ISO 1000. There is a lot of noise in the images. Even when shooting still subjects in good light, I often get a blur/halo effect. Worse still, they look fine on the camera screen, but when I view them on my computer I notice some blurring. The lack of a viewfinder is a real pain. In bright daylight, the screen is almost completely washed out. The bottom line is that in my experience I have to take A LOT of shots to get a pair that COULD be decent. Maybe I was expecting too much for the price, but my advice is save a few bucks more and get a Cannon.
