Review on 15-Foot High Temperature Flue by 3M by Austin Arvayo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mixed 5 star rating

The important thing to know is that this is a very specialized product that will withstand higher temperatures than the more common '200 sheet tape'. So you should expect some compromises: it's a much smaller reel than the 200-degree stuff. It works BEST on chimney seams where it will adhere to itself and adequately clean the exhaust pipes. If you have a "special use case" be aware that it may not stick as well. My particular use case was "wrapping" the fiberglass insulation wrapped around the pipes that immediately exited my oil boiler. Since I'm using it for something it's not intended for, I can't reset points. Anyway, I chose to do this because you shouldn't wrap the pipes in insulation near the boiler, if that insulation is even combustible. Cheap "foam noodles" burn easily, as does the nicer paper-backed fiberglass insulation. The fire limit stops after 12 inches from the chimney, so DO NOT use plastic wrap around the fiberglass closer than that! Anyway, it "worked" for me to file down the surface and seal the insulation, but it's not designed for that and looks a bit wrong. :-) Another good use: put a square of this stuff on top of that flimsy plastic parking ticket hanging from your mirror. The extra weight is perfect for keeping things like that out of the fender. Stick on pennies if you want even more weight.
