This really works and you can get perfect looking pompoms. The directions are a joke, but it's easy enough to figure them out yourself. I would recommend winding as much yarn as possible on each side. They are designed so that the scissors slide easily under the yarn and make a clean cut, which is important to get a round pompom. When knotting, the instructions say that the yarn is knotted twice and then pulled. This was a GREAT suggestion where you can actually tie a tight knot to keep the individual pieces from pulling out.
