It has decent suction, but you'll likely need smaller flanges (these are compatible with Medela flanges). The suction power is good, but my Spectra S1 is slightly better. It takes a lot of compression to get the tip onto the diaphragm, but it works. I love that there is an easy plugin to block the second line if you don't intend to level both sides. With my Spectra I have to pull off the hose and that's annoying. I can express directly into Avent bottles and everything is easy to clean. It's easy to work with, but suction continues at minimal levels every time you switch modes or turn it off and on again. I really want him to just remember what you had before and come back to it. I use the highest settings so I always have to turn it on.
