Review on 🎧 GRADO GR10e Wired In-Ear Headphones/Earbuds by Jade Allen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I bought this as a replacement after not being happy with the good sound of the Bower and Wilkins C5 series.

Having lost my original Gr10 headphones I bought them as a replacement after not being happy with the great sounding Bower and Wilkins C5 Series 2. Was trying to save money ($130 with Verizon rewards program) but missed the added clarity and super-rich detail of Grados. The GR 10e's are also a nice sonic improvement over the original GR 10's. I can't really compare them to each other but they seem to be significantly more efficient. Sometimes I just love it loud, and these get too loud even for me. The high frequencies also appear to be smoother. The mids and highs sound absolutely fantastic. I've never heard guitars, strings or horns so detailed, clear and vivid in IEM. The separation between the instruments is excellent. The bass goes very, very deep, but sometimes I would like a little more. That's the only downside you can find with these headphones without poking around for silly questions like complaining that Grado doesn't come with a case, which you can easily buy online for $10 in your choice of color and style. DAC and amp, the sound is out of this world like you would expect from a $400 IEM. But how often will I carry a portable DAC/amp with me when using an IEM? Which brings me to the real beauty of this IEMS. They sound great just plugged into my iPhone. These headphones are amazingly light and comfortable. In terms of comfort, it couldn't be better. In terms of convenience, every phone I've ever used is a disgrace. While the silicone tips work well and last a long time, I've found that there is more bass with Comply's insulating foam tips. They reveal the full potential of the phone's bass. The Grado GR 10e doesn't have a very large soundstage. This is sufficient and seems to depend on the quality of the recording to achieve the soundstage. The music sounds like it's playing in my head in a nice way. I listen to jazz, rock and classical music. They are definitely not meant for rap. The Grados are amazing except in the low bass where they sometimes lack the power of the highs and mids.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
