Review on Wilwood 15B 3991K Dyanlite Caliper Brake by Yung Cypher

Great pads for racing

I use them on my 1983 Toyota Celica Supra race car for the Lemon 24 Hours series. These are great pads that last a long time (usually two full rides for an adjustment up front). These pads are a huge upgrade over anything you can get for a stock Supra caliper. They are very predictable and resistant to fading and glazing. They don't even squeak, not that I mind a race car much. Those pads are really dusty, but I suspect all good racing pads are dusty. They spray black dust everywhere and turn our chrome rims completely black at the end of a day of racing. I don't worry too much about race car fuel economy, but those pads would probably drive me crazy on my road car just for the dust. I really like how easy it is to change Wilwood brake pads in general. This is the simplest system I've ever used. I keep a large bag of cotter pins in my toolbox so changing pads boils down to pulling out the old pin, removing the old pads, then installing a new set of pads with a new pin and back on the trail. All of this can be done with the caliper installed. You can even do the whole procedure with tongs pretty easily while it's still hot. This can be really helpful when trying to deal with a deformed rotor or similar and get back on track as quickly as possible.
