So my door is exactly 29 inches long and when I started installing it was actually too big! I thought I would have to send it back! However, it was about 1/32 of an inch and I could tilt it enough that I could actually push it in and drop it until it was vertical. phew! Ironically, my other door is exactly 30 inches. and I have to FULLY push out the turnbuckles to install it. They're so far away that they're not quite straight anymore, but they hold up and are strong, so it's a goalkeeper. FYI, For Animal Use: I breed local animal rescue dogs and use this gate in a 30 inch door. There is enough space on the sides for a very small animal like a puppy or kitten.
