I bought this lens three years ago for my Minolta Maxxum 5 DSLR. I've taken it on trips and taken hundreds of photos with it and I have no regrets. It's not too heavy, fits perfectly in a fanny pack and the focal range is fantastic. Compared to lenses that cost hundreds of dollars more, this is an incredible deal. If you're a shooter like me and want to make your life easier then this is a great lens. I recently bought a KM Maxxum 5 DSLR (no longer in production but still available if you look) and the A-mount fits this lens perfectly. I'm curious how it works with the new camera. The only downside to this lens that I can find is that you want to capture more pixels! Why 4 stars and not 5? Low weight is achieved through materials. It's mostly plastic and just doesn't feel very solid, although I've never really worried about it and so far it hasn't given me cause for concern. Sony Alpha 300 DSLR and it's a great combination. I really appreciate its light weight and I think the only thing I would really like would be a lower aperture. Sony makes this exact lens under its logo. Most reviews refer to this as "beer can lens" for obvious reasons. I think it should be Budweiser beer - not too expensive and hearty enough.
