At first we thought this would be a good way to reduce the consumption of disposable batteries on the Wii console. It helps you achieve that goal, but with some caveats. The concept is simple: replace the conventional batteries in your controllers with battery packs from a charging station. Place the controllers on the charging dock (that's right) and the light under each controller will glow blue, indicating it's charging. (or no color if you missed the right fit) When the controllers are charged, the light will change to green. Sounds easy enough, and sometimes it works that way. We found the stand's design made it difficult to properly position the controllers to charge them. Fastened straps always get in the way of good contact with the charger. An adult can do this more easily than a child, but it is a random process. It's best to remove the straps before charging, but then you'll have to remember to put them back on before playing the game. Again, adults are fine, kids may or may not follow, increasing the risk of the controller snagging on your flat-screen TV. Additionally, we found that while the lights indicate the controllers are fully charged, they sometimes only last a few minutes before needing to be recharged. Keep normal batteries as a backup.
