This camera offers good value for money. Macbeth's color checker is fine as long as your screen is calibrated for daylight. So the colors can be real. In close-ups, it exhibits significant parallax distortion (rectangular objects appear oval). However, it is not as noticeable on distant images. Lens sharpness is mediocre to good and quite good for snapshots, but not (and shouldn't be) comparable to professional multi-element lenses. In my opinion, the sharpness compares well to cameras in the $200-$300 range. If you're into sharpening you might not like it, but it's nothing to complain about and can be enhanced with filters in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements along with other programs. In my opinion, the sharpness is better for close-ups for some reason. The LCD screen is large and bright. Very good. Due to its light weight, this camera is prone to handshake issues despite the digital anti-shake feature. It just doesn't feel as heavy as a larger camera, so it needs to be handled with care when shooting handheld. The software is friendly. I did not find the step zoom mentioned in other reports questionable. Of course, I wasn't expecting too much from a limited zoom system. This camera is an acceptable compromise and has quality built in. It's definitely good value for money. This can be a good secondary camera if you need an easy-to-use snap camera, just in case.
