Amazingly solid controllers (D-Pad could be better)

I got interested in these controllers when I saw them, mainly because of the alternative design philosophy compared to the original N64 controllers and because it feels N64 joysticks are famous to degrade over time. I thought it would be interesting to explore an alternative. In this package you will receive two N64 compatible controllers in unopened boxes and a pair of 6ft N64 extension cables. The packaging looks professional and the overall fit and finish of everything is pretty good. The controllers make a solid and well-made impression. When squeezed tightly, they will not bend or move. The design of these controllers is definitely borrowed from the Gamecube controller with some modern ergonomic changes. They have grips very similar to the Gamecube, with a similar layout but more contoured to make them feel better in hand. Like the Gamecube controller, they have a joystick in the top-left corner and a d-pad in the bottom-right corner. The stick and directional pad are farther apart than the GameCube controller, making it easier to use, especially if you have big hands. Where this controller moves away from the Gamecube controller is its round shape and the angular taper at the end. above where the shoulder buttons. There is no central Z-trigger button here, instead a second set of shoulder buttons have been chosen below the left and right buttons. As a result, there are two Z buttons, so the Z button can be pressed with both hands. In use, this controller is quite good, if not perfect. The handles are comfortable to hold and are well balanced overall. The mini joystick is closer in size to an Xbox or Playstation controller, but is mounted in a hex base so it plays like a Gamecube. It's also more responsive than on the original controllers, which makes it feel a little twitchy. D pad is fine. It's about the size of a Gamecube (read: tiny) and feels soft. It also has corners that are a bit sharper than we'd like. Heavy use can be bad for your thumbs. The bottom line is that I haven't had much experience with the D-Pad, although it's serviceable. The other buttons have a pretty good feel and are in the same configuration as the original N64 controller, albeit further from the grip as a thumb and D-pad. I found them generally quite comfortable to use. Another thing to note is that these controllers have a Rumble Pack/Memory Card compatible slot. I tried them with original N64 devices and both items connected to the controllers and worked great. Conclusion: If you are looking for a replacement for the N64 controller that approaches the design differently, you can do significantly worse than these controllers. . I like the design in general. Comfortable to hold and use, they look and feel durable. Also, they are compatible with all original devices and have no lags as far as I can tell. For the price I think they are a bargain and worth considering.
