Review on ๐Ÿ€ Molten BG3800 Series Indoor/Outdoor Basketball: FIBA Approved, Size 7 with 2-Tone Design (Model: B7G3800) by Jason Bailey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tried several brands and models. This is an open ball.

I was specifically looking for an outdoor ball. I'm from rural Texas. Sandy types of mud land on open spaces. A ball that can handle mud and sand but still retain traction is a must. Your typical outdoor ball just doesn't work for several reasons. First, they are sometimes too stubborn. It's not bad at all. This makes it a lot easier to learn to dribble as it's a lot easier to manipulate the ball in your hand. However, this is not necessarily good if you want to play with others. Often other players don't like stickier balls, especially shooters. As a result, in a multi-ball game, yours will not be selected to play. People are not used to grippier balls. As a result, you are playing with a ball that you are not particularly used to. It's better to practice with balls that other players play pickup with. Indoor basketballs are also not suitable for obvious reasons. They catch mud like crazy and won't survive the elements in the open space. That's where this ball comes to the rescue. I find it's a great middle ground between your typical slick indoor ball and the insanely grippy outdoor ball. The handle is really nice but smooth to the touch. This means the ball can still spin in your hand but is still easy to manipulate with your fingers. For indoor courts, I prefer Spalding Game Ball replicas. Molten BG3800 is suitable for outdoor courts.
