I bought one of these for school and it worked for a few months, after that it stopped typing but the keys still work. Microsoft will fix it under warranty, but I figured I'd need a replacement part anyway, so I bought another one. About a month later the same problem appeared with a new pen (WEEK FINAL). Strangely, each pen worked fine both times until I took a break and came back after a while to find it just wasn't writing. Reconnecting Bluetooth does not solve the problem. The battery doesn't change either. These pens cost $100. When they work, they work very well. However, this seems to be too specific a case of both handles failing in the same way to be an unusual or unforeseen issue. They're just too flawed to rely on. So if you plan on using them for something important, think again. As a separate but related note, I also purchased a Surface Book 3 which was supposed to have a 2 month warranty due to screen discoloration. I just can't say I'm happy with my investment here! If you are a student or need to use these tools extensively, I would check something else. On a positive note, Microsoft customer support has been really, really good! I mean I would prefer not to contact her at all, but having had to do so several times I found her to be helpful, friendly and easy to understand.
