Almost all other circle templates have only grown to 10″, this one to 11.8″. The only downside for some might be that it's only metric, but for me I'm really just trying to max out a piece of wood to turn on a lathe, so I just need to get close enough to draw a circle. The plastic is thick enough to inspire confidence in its durability, but I'll know more after using it for a while. My lathe is just a midi lathe, Laguna 12/16, so I have to make sure the workpieces I put on are the right size for the lathe (I have an extension on the outside so I can go up to 16" in diameter can work, but only 12" above the main bed). I also have hand compasses, but it's a lot quicker for me to find the center and max out a specific piece of wood. Once I know the center, I set my drive center on those Position and tap on it quickly so it can register on the lathe at that point if I'm turning between centers, or to drill a hole for my worm screw if I want to use my Patron first.
