I bought these rags to cover furniture when someone came to our house to work during COVID and they smelled strongly of cigarette smoke so much everything stank of house smoke, than i delete them all. I'm sensitive to cigarette smoke so it's been devastating to my system, but I'm also at high risk for COVID and haven't had time to swap them out. I'm not sure if the reason they smelled so bad was because they came from a dealer who had exposed them to cigarette smoke or some other reason.
