Not bad for the price

A few years ago I bought 2 cheap monitors from a friend. One had a blown horn, the other rumbled, and both were loaded with cheap polyphonic woofers. I only bought them for taxis. Recently I was about to build some near field monitors for our drummer during rehearsals. The woofers were replaced with some older 12" Scorpion Peavey SP-12825's that I had in stock and ordered these PDS111 drivers to see if they would fit as a good horn which is a 4" x 10 plastic lens " which really extends the mids. (Not a lot of room to work with. The big driver isn't good for these cabs. I tried the 22A driver and it hit the top.) 2k, but you'll never see high output . This pair works with a bridged Peavey CS200 (220 watts into 4 ohms. I switched them on and they actually sound pretty good with the Shure SM58. Studio mic and music reproduction is very good too. I know they are NOTHING like that JBL DT220ti or the Peavey RX14 but don't spend that many bucks on these monitors I burned them for over an hour at 50% amp power and 40dB with an MP3 playback insert (around 50-60W, typ. 92 dB and DDT compression with almost f laughing EQ with little improvement, >5dB+ at 63-12 ). 8 and 4k to 10K and >5db cut @ 1K and 1.25K) So far so good. It's a surprisingly small, lightweight driver and should work well where space is at a premium. I recommend the PDS111 as an inexpensive driver for home music systems or low level sample audio. Just keep in mind that these are NOT PROFESSIONAL tweeters, they WILL NOT work well in large areas or in high volume environments, so please do not purchase them for this purpose. Let's see how long they last! UPDATE: That was 5 years ago now. Used once or twice a week and still works. These little suckers really work!
