When I saw this in Tech News today, I couldn't quite believe it was actually an NVMe case; it costs like an SSD enclosure. Comparable suitcases from other suppliers currently cost several hundred euros per suitcase alone. I'm happy to report that this is indeed an NVMe case and it's fast. Not as fast as the internal drives in my Dell Precision 7720 connected directly to the PCIe bus, but still fast enough for video editing. Tonight's test with Samsung PM961 OEM 1TB drives in both the case and the laptop showed around 580MB/s. s writes and reads 800 MB/s from an external drive. I've seen slightly better performance using the Samsung 950 Pro 512GB drive in an enclosure - around 600MB/s and around 810MB/s, respectively. The chassis can - and probably should - be faster, but Dell Precision laptops are notorious for their slow NVMe transfers, so I'm sure that's a factor, and at this price point I won't complain. an hour ago so can't speak to the case life yet, but it's a pretty solid device. I have high hopes and so far I can only recommend it.
